The Experience:
Begin your day at CERES Community Environment Park, a beacon of urban sustainability and community engagement. Take part in a regenerative farming “working bee,” learning practical techniques for sustainable food production and soil health. Guided by CERES experts, this session offers an introduction to the principles of regenerative farming, such as soil ecology, biodiversity, and resilient food systems. After a productive session continue to Studley Park Boathouse to dine in their Conservatory restaurant overlooking the Yarra River.
After some nourishing food and beverages at Studley Park the group will take part in a “Health of the River” session led by a champion of clean water initiatives. This interactive experience explores the importance of water quality for urban ecosystems, the impact of pollution, and the role of conservation programmes in ensuring healthy waterways. Gain insights into the interconnectedness of urban living and natural ecosystems and learn how we can support Melbourne’s river health. Next, embark on a guided rowboat journey along the Yarra.
With four to a boat and an experienced rower-guide in each, enjoy a relaxing yet insightful exploration of Melbourne’s waterways, taking in scenic views and reflecting on the significance of these urban rivers. Conclude this enriching day with a renewed sense of connection to Melbourne’s vibrant sustainability culture, from urban food systems to river conservation and wildlife protection. This experience leaves participants inspired and equipped to take part in ongoing environmental action, while enjoying the stunning blend of natural and urban landscapes Melbourne has to offer.
